You\u2019re not quite as sharp as you once were.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In\u00a0<a class=\"css-yywogo\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/harvardharrispoll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/HHP_June2022_KeyResults.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a June survey<\/a>\u00a0by Harvard\u2019s Center for American Political Studies and the <span style=\"white-space: nowrap;\">Harris Poll<\/span>, 64 percent of voters believed he was showing that he is too old to be president, including 60 percent of respondents 65 or older.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Biden\u2019s public appearances have fueled that perception. His speeches can be flat and listless. He sometimes loses his train of thought, has trouble summoning names or appears momentarily confused. More than once, he has promoted Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her \u201cPresident Harris.\u201d Mr. Biden, who overcame a childhood stutter, stumbles over words like \u201ckleptocracy.\u201d He has\u00a0<a class=\"css-yywogo\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/01\/us\/politics\/biden-putin-state-of-the-union.html?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said Iranian when he meant Ukrainian<\/a>\u00a0and several times called Senator Mark Warner, Democrat of Virginia, \u201cJohn,\u201d confusing him with the late Republican senator of that name from Virginia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Republicans and conservative media gleefully highlight such moments, posting viral videos, sometimes exaggerated or distorted to make Mr. Biden look even worse. But the White House has had to walk back some of his ad-libbed comments, such as when he\u00a0<a class=\"css-yywogo\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/23\/world\/asia\/biden-taiwan-china.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vowed a military response if China attacks Taiwan<\/a>\u00a0or declared that President Vladimir V. Putin\u00a0<a class=\"css-yywogo\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/26\/world\/europe\/biden-ukraine-poland-speech.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ccannot remain in power\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in Russia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Biden was famously\u00a0<a class=\"css-yywogo\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/09\/11\/world\/americas\/11iht-biden.4.16081515.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prone to gaffes<\/a>\u00a0even as a younger man, and aides point to his marathon meetings with families of mass shooting victims or his working the rope line during a trip to Cleveland this past week as evidence of stamina.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2026<\/p>\n<p>During his European trip last month, foreign leaders followed his lead while protectively treating him like a distinguished elderly relative. At a photo opportunity, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany gently pointed Mr. Biden in the direction of the cameras. Just before a meeting, a reporter twice shouted a question about getting grain out of Ukraine. When Mr. Biden could not hear the question, Boris Johnson, the British prime minister, rescued him. \u201cWe\u2019re working on it,\u201d Mr. Johnson responded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To sum up: According to the <span style=\"white-space: nowrap;\">New York Times<\/span> the United States President, famously prone to gaffes even as a younger man, sometimes loses his train of thought, has trouble summoning names or appears momentarily confused, but engages in marathon meetings, which provides evidence of stamina. Leaders of the G7 &#8222;protectively treat him like a distinguished elderly relative.&#8220; He is gently guided by <span style=\"white-space: nowrap;\">Olaf Scholz<\/span> and <span style=\"white-space: nowrap;\">Boris Johnson<\/span>.
